Joshua Mesec serves as the Senior Assistant to the Pastor at Friendship Church, where he helps support the vision, leadership, and daily ministry operations of the church. Working closely with the pastoral team, Joshua assists in coordinating ministry efforts, supporting volunteers, and helping create an environment where people can grow in their relationship with Jesus and experience authentic Christian community.
Joshua brings over 16 years of leadership experience from the United States Army, where he currently serves as a Master Sergeant. His background in leadership, organization, and team development helps strengthen the church’s ability to serve families, lead ministries effectively, and build strong teams.
Outside of the church, Joshua is passionate about mentoring the next generation through youth sports. As a coach for multiple youth teams, he views the field as another ministry opportunity—teaching young athletes about character, teamwork, discipline, and faith. Through coaching, Joshua strives to invest in kids and families while demonstrating Christ-centered leadership both on and off the field.
Joshua and his wife Abigail are proud parents of three boys and are grateful to be raising their family at Friendship Church. As a family, they enjoy serving together and helping others find a place to belong.

Crystal Lopez brings energy, steadiness, and a big-faith vision to our Next Gen ministry. She and her husband, Lenny, are parents to nine in a beautifully blended family—his, mine, ours, and two precious children welcomed through adoption. Five of their kids, ages 9–19, are still at home, keeping life full and lively.
For the past 17 years, Crystal has built two six-figure businesses from the ground up while homeschooling, raising babies, and helping her husband grow his HVAC company. She has hired, trained, and led teams both in the U.S. and in the Philippines, learning how to create systems that serve people well. That same grit and grace shape her approach to ministry: creating safe spaces, building clear structure, empowering loving volunteers, and keeping Jesus at the center of it all.
The Lopez family moved from DFW to San Antonio in 2018—an unexpected chapter that knit their story more tightly together. God was in every detail. Crystal quickly fell in love with this beautiful city and its deep Texas roots (she even has family ties to the Alamo!).
That same year, she scribbled a note in her Bible during a Sunday sermon: “Your job is to win souls to Jesus!” Those words continue to guide her calling today as she leads our Next Gen team, helping kids grow in faith and share the hope of Jesus with confidence.
Crystal can’t wait to meet your family, cheer on your kids, and help them discover that they are fully known and fully loved by God.
